Free Micros

It’s been a long, hot summer here in Tennessee, and our team has been working diligently (in our air-conditioned office) creating lots of microlearning resources (we call them “Micros”) for our extensive library of courses!

We know that planning for the new school year is always time consuming and often offers up new challenges. Students are wanting more and more digital resources, but who has time to create them? Well, we do. And we want to make it easier for you to get supplemental resources for your teaching, so that’s why we have made every Micro in our Shop FREE! We’ve also got some free Macros for you to download and try.

For those of you who are new to Microlearning, a “Micro” is a short, self-contained online lesson complete with a quiz, that you upload to your Learning Management System (LMS). Micros typically have a few key points, engaging interactions, and can be part of a topic (a “Macro”). Micros and Macros make up our Courses. All Micros and Macros are self-grading, give students feedback, and report the students’ scores back to your LMS automatically.

Micros reinforce and support teaching and learning in many ways. For example, they reduce cognitive load, they deliver timely feedback at the end of each lesson, and they allow students to learn at their own pace. Learning in bite-sized units also helps with retention.

A “Macro” is a topic containing a number of Micros, with a final assessment at the end. You can keep them in order, or use some or all of them to reinforce other teaching and resources. You can even personalize learning by letting students choose their own path through the Micros, or supplement current resources to better serve different learning styles.

You can order our Courses through the Shop or through our Microlearning Library. All of our Microlearning Courses are licensed to your institution, which means they can be used by unlimited instructors and on unlimited students!

Each Micro has instructions on how to upload to the most common LMS. However, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them in our Community. We’re ready to help with anything you may need.

If you are curious to see how Microlearning works, take 2 minutes to watch our video, What’s a Micro?

We would love to hear how you are using Micros in your courses, especially from those of you who have already used our Micros or purchased a full Course. Let us know in the comments below; your feedback is really important to us! In the meantime, head on over to the Shop and get your free micros today.
